Why you can't pre-order an iPad yet

Apple’s new toy won’t be available to the public for another 3 months, but even so you won’t be able to pre-order it either.

Before you jump to conclusions it is not because it doesn’t support Flash yet (and it probably never will), it’s just that Apple has not yet obtained the necessary Federal Communications Commission approval to unleash it on the nation’s airwaves.

Apple’s been through this before, with the launch of the first iPhone announced six months before it was available.

There you have it, if you’re one of the many that probably already planned on getting one of these babies you’d better start saving up while you still have a chance as they don’t come cheap, specially if you want 3G access.
