The Jon Stewart/Rick Sanchez Telenovela

We all know CNN fired Ricardo “Rick” Sanchez last Friday after an interview with satellite radio host Pete Dominick on Thursday, where he suggested that members of the Jewish faith control the TV networks and said that Stewart is bigoted toward “everybody else that’s not like him.”

Why was he so worked up about the Daily Show’s mockery of him when he’s not the only person screwing up on TV?

I really don’t understand why Rick Sanchez feels the whole world is out to get him. Every time he opens his mouth he plays the race card to the point of ridiculousness. Why does he feel so discriminated against? The guy has everything, hell, even had his own show at freaking CNN!

I am Latino too, but I don’t feel for the guy, he seriously messed up, why in heaven’s name did he have to badmouth the very same network he works for on the radio? Hey, if he wanted to quit the network he sure did it in a blaze of glory.

So his father worked all his life, so what? Big news to Sanchez, we all gotta work to live and feed our families, unless you belong to a rich family you have to work or you don’t eat.

I have been a fan of the Daily show since 1999, and last time I checked Jon Stewart makes fun of the bad decisions and bad/weird moments of news commentators, celebrities, political figures, etc., but I have yet to see him attack a person because of his ethnicity, hey if I don’t feel discriminated against by him and I’m part of a minority and live a shitty life I don’t see why Sanchez would when he was in a position of power (to some extent).

You can’t call the race card every time somebody says something about you, if that’s the case changing his name from Ricardo to “Rick” certainly doesn’t help, if Sanchez were so proud of being Latino he would keep his name intact, there’s too much bullshit around his way of thinking.

Anyway, The Daily show doesn’t tape on Friday’s, so they had to wait until Monday to tape Jon Stewart’s comeback, which at this point is just mean, funny but mean.

I gotta admit that was funny, irrelevant at this point, but funny nonetheless.

To add insult to injury his wife apologized for him on Facebook, saying “caught up in the banter and deeply apologizes to anyone who was offended by his unintended comments.”

She also mentioned Sanchez called Stewart to apologize. “They had a good talk,” Suzanne Sanchez wrote. “jon was gracious and called rick, ‘thin-skinned.’ he’s right. rick feels horrible that in an effort to make a broader point about the media, his exhaustion from working 14 hr days for 2 mo. straight, caused him to mangle his thought process inartfully.”

I don’t know if the wife acted on his behalf or on her own, either way I don’t think it helps any unless Stewart mentions the apology he got from him, and maybe Sanchez appears on his show to clean his name, either way I think he’ll be out of work for a while.

The way I see it is Sanchez lashed out because his show was about to be canceled, that’s the only reasonable reason to badmouth your employer after you’re given your own show, which I can safely call the “dick move of the year.”

If I may make a suggestion, complain when you’re at the bottom of the chain, not when you’re at the top, in any case I want my own show too D:<
