My desktop computer is being a jerk

blog rants

I think I won’t be able to post stuff as often as I would like due to my computer being a dick and suddenly not turning on.

I turned it off the day before yesterday because it had been running non-stop all week, so I saw no harm in turning it off.

Saturday morning, bam! It didn’t turn on again. I have a new 600watt power supply I bought a couple of months ago for this computer to replace the 300watt one that HP had put in there, I mean, why the hell would you sell a computer with tons of connections but with a miserable 300watt power supply? Anyway, I was waiting to get a cutting tool to open up some holes in the case to put back some of the external connections I took out when I switched the computer case.

The funny thing is that I can’t try the new power supply. The motherboard uses a 4pin 12V CPU connector, but the power supply only has p6 and p8 connections, even though the box says it has 4+4 12V connectors…

I checked the manual that came with the power supply and it says only the 400 and 500 watt models have those connectors, so now I have to get an adapter because I really want to use the 600w PSU, and because I don’t have the receipt anymore….

The PSU in question is an Inland Silver Series ILS-600 600 Watt ATX Power Supply. It has pictures of the types of cables it has on the top and the front of the box, but guess what, the 4+4 connector picture is a sticker, both are stickers in fact, while the rest are actually printed on the box….

Seriously Inland, what the hell is up with that?

Anyhow, I hope it’s just a power issue, otherwise I’ll just spend more money to find out the computer is dead.
