Today’s Google Doodle celebrates “Dracula” author’s 165th birthday.

Abraham “Bram” Stoker (8 November 1847 – 20 April 1912) was an Irish novelist and short story writer, best known today for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as personal assistant of actor Sir Henry Irving and business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, which Irving owned.

On a related note, auction company Profiles in History will be putting out for auction the desk where Bram Stoker wrote his famous 1897 novel “Dracula.” The auction company will be holding the auction in mid-December (December 15th and 16th), and expects it to sell for around $60,000 to $80,000.
