Important Things in Life: 12 Commercials Featuring Chickens

advertising arts humor

After watching the new Mercedes Benz “magic body control” commercial featuring chickens, I set myself on a quest to find more commercials featuring chickens. Why? Because cluck you, that’s why.

I tried to find as many clips featuring live chickens as possible, but in the end two of them are animations, and one is a guy in a chicken suit, but other than that I was pretty much consistent with mah chikins.

These are not in any specific order, so if you don’t like the way I set up the list it’s OK, no fowl play here.

Domino’s Pizza “Techno Chicken”

The good-old Techno chicken, it’s been years since I’ve seen this majestic commercial in action…Who would’ve thought chickens could do something other than eating, pooping, and attempting to cross roads for no reason?

Mercedes-Benz “Magic Body Control”

This is hands down one of the best commercials of the year, whoever came up with this idea is a marketing genius. I honestly can’t stop watching it!

Jennette McCurdy for Safe Kids USA

This ad uses the old “why did the chicken cross the road” joke as a basis to tell kids to pay attention while crossing the street, especially with all modern distractions like smartphones and MP3 players, otherwise it could get ugly for them and end up like this.

Fujifilm X-S1, “Keep a steady head”

Weirdly enough, this ad features the basic same idea as the Mercedes Benz ad, but I guess they were written at about the same time or something like that… In any case, it’s easy to understand where they’re going with it, I’ve had my fair share of blurry pictures after all….

Burger King “Chicken Fries”

I guess these guys enjoy being around the wrong crowd, but in the end they’re nothing more than small fry. Anyway, it’s kind of sad Burger King got rid of their chicken fries, they were awesome, and pretty much one of the few chicken things in their menu that I really liked…

Nike Free Running “The Angry Chicken”

I don’t know what happened to this commercial, it’s really hard to find and the quality is horrendous! Anyway, it’s one of the most entertaining Nike commercials, and it also reminds me a lot of The Legend of Zelda; if you bother the chickens too much they gang up on you, and sadly, you can’t fool those chickens…

Burger King “King Kickin'”

Chickens and martial arts? Yes! You can see the Kung Pao is strong in this one… I guess you could say these guys…*puts on glasses*…broke stuff with their cock.

Vfresh “Chicken and Duck Love”

I’m honestly not sure what this ad is about. At first I thought it was about soap operas, you know, the alligator crying and everything, but it was about juice? I don’t know what to do with this information….

Burger King “Big Buckin’ Chicken”

Not really a chicken, but it’s implied that it is a chicken. Still, this awesome commercial had a very short run because of the lyrics, which apparently were changed after it sounded like “big fuc*ing chicken.” Well, they still sounded like that, too bad…

DIRECTV “The Chicken and the Egg”

Not an real chicken commercial, but it’s nice claymation version of the oldest question ever; who thinks it came first, the chicken, or the egg? To tell you the truth, I don’t remember this commercial, I don’t know where it was aired, but it’s the first time I see it…

Pepsi “Sumo Chicken”

OK, maybe I stretched it a little bit with this one, but the chickens are moving, so I guess that counts? Anyway, I wonder if they just picked up the loser from the floor and put it back in the counter?

Just so you know, I didn’t include any of the Jack in the Box chicken commercials because they are just a bunch of guys in pretty lame chicken costumes. Also, a friend mentioned the Foster Farms commercials, but to me they look more like Sesame Street puppets than chickens, so I’ll might just give them their own post some other time.
