This 3D tribute to Haiyo Miyazaki will make you cry

An amazing and beautiful 3D tribute to Haiyo Miyazaki made with Blender, Gimp, Octane and Natron.

This is one of the most amazing tributes I’ve seen, and I can’t even imagine the amount of work it takes to make something like this.

It also came just in time for the release of “The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki,” a collection set that includes 11 featured films plus a ton of extras, like a TV pilot from 1972 called Yuki’s Sun (Yuki no Taiyo) that Miyazaki created for a proposed TV series based on the manga of the same name. Also, 3 episodes of the Little Samurai (Akado Suzunosuk) series also from 1972.

The set will ship exclusively from Amazon on November 17, and the main 11 discs include the following Studio Ghibli films:

  • Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979, Miyazaki’s first work in theaters)
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
  • Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986)
  • My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989)
  • Porco Rosso (1992)
  • Princess Mononoke (1997)
  • Spirited Away (2001)
  • Howl’s Moving Castle (2004)
  • Ponyo (2008)
  • The Wind Rises (2013)

I hope Studio Ghibli goes back to making movies, it’s a shame they’re on hiatus right now.
