Saint Seiya – Sanctuary Battle for the PS3

Yesterday I was talking to a friend about a possible Saint Seiya game, we both even thought it was a remake of the PS2 game.

Today another friend of mine shared the Japanese, and later on, the European English version of the teaser for “Saint Seiya – Sancturary Battle,” exclusively for the PS3 console.

SAINT SEIYA – Sanctuary Battle will immerse players in the most popular drama from Saint Seiya: the Sanctuary, as Seiya and his companions fight side by side to defeat the gold saints of the twelve palaces and protect Athena. As players complete quests and progress through the twelve levels, they can inflict tremendous damage on their foes with fast-paced Cosmo power-up attacks.

SAINT SEIYA – Sanctuary Battle will also include a special mode which allows the player to go further in Saint Seiya universe with alternate stories to delight the fans. The game’s environments, characters, Myth Cloths and enemies have been designed to be faithful to the anime. Featuring the original Japanese voiceover, the game will offer the most complete mythical Saint Seiya experience ever.

The game is still in development, but by the looks of things it might be similar to “Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage” that came out for the Xbox630 and the PS3. And I mean that in the sense that you fight a ton of enemies at once, just like Dynasty Warriors, I don’t think the enemies will explode even if you use Ikki, the Phoenix.

The sad news is, Europe is probably as far as it will go. I checked NAMCO BANDAI’s USA website and there’s no mention of this game at all, so you either mod your console to play the EU or Japanese games or you don’t play it at all.

In any case we will have to wait for any announcement at this year’s Japan Expo in Paris (June 30th to July 3rd 2011). There will be an on-stage demo and world exclusive first ever playable version of the game on the NAMCO BANDAI Games booth. Let’s all hope they will release something for the horde of fans in North and South America.

  1. One of my favorite anime series though it’s been very long series it’s been worth while watching it….

    1. I hear ya, IMHO everything went down the drain when they animated the second part of the Hades chapter using Kurumada’s manga frame by frame, an adaptation could have saved the series…

There’s a new series though, you might want to check the Lost Canvas anime, based on the manga by the same title, it’s pretty good.

As far as the game is concerned I never played the PS2 version, but this one looks promising.
