Griffin Unveils Moto TC Monster and Racer R/C Cars for iOS Devices
Griffin Technology, a provider of accessories for Apple products like the iPhone and the iPad, unveiled a couple of toy R/C cars that use iOS devices as controllers.
The first one is the MOTO TC Monster, an monster truck that uses Bluetooth connectivity from the iOS devices to send signals to the vehicle via the free MOTO TC Monster app for iOS. The vehicle can be controlled using a virtual steering wheel or by tilting the device and using its motion sensors.
The controller app features:
- Touch: Use a virtual steering wheel and throttle to maneuver the truck
- Motion: Tilt your device to steer the truck
- Slide: Slide your finger across your display to direct the truck
- Tracks: Control the truck through a series of preset routes, including figure eights and track laps
The battery life of the Moto TC Monster is about 15 minutes. It’s compatible with the iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad, iPad 2, and iPad 3rd generation.
The truck measures 10.28″ wide by 13.77″ long, and it’s available right now for $59.99(USD).
The MOTO TC Racer is a smaller buggy style car that will launch in the middle of November for $29.99. It uses an integrated RF transmitter and comes with an accessory that plugs into the headphone port of the iOS device. The vehicle can be controlled using a virtual steering wheel and throttle or with motion by tilting your device.
The controller app for both vehicles requires iOS 5.0 or later.
They might make a great gift for the R/C aficionado, considering the Holidays are almost here.
