Most Successful Action/Adventure Movie Franchises

The highest grossing movie franchises according to BuzzFeed.

BuzzFeed came up with this infographic a few days ago, and I only got to post it now because of work and laziness, mainly the latter.

I have a problem with it though, and it’s the fact it includes the 1978 animated Lord of the Rings film, but it ignores the 1986 animated Transformers movie, which makes it pretty inconsistent.

Their excuse is that they took the data from a website called The Numbers, which contains box office data. However, a simple search gave me the answer. A website called Box Office Mojo reports that Transformers: The Movie had a domestic total gross of $5,849,647. All it took was 5 seconds of my time.

I would also like to know if the Star Wars numbers include the 90’s theatrical re-release of the original saga.

Anyway, I hope somebody comes up with a more accurate infographic later on.
