Nivea’s new ad turns gross when it features a seagull drone that poops suntan lotion on kids
Ad agency Jung von Matt/Elbe recently submitted a promotional advert for Nivea entitled the “Care From the Air.” The advertising company submitted the ad for an award at Cannes Lions.
The campaign features a mechanical drone in the shape of a seagull that poops sunscreen lotion on kids who need more sun protection. What could go wrong?
While the children in the video seem to enjoy being pooped lotion on, the jury at Cannes Lions found it utterly ridiculous; “It’s the most stupid thing I think I’ve seen in my whole life.”
The agency in Germany behind the Nivea promotion—told Adweek, “the PR department of the client doesn’t want PR for it, so we do not promote it.”
I kind of get what they were trying to do, but it didn’t work as intended. They took a very calculated risk, but damn are they bad at math.
And now comes the part where the internet cuts chunks of the video for animated gifs, using only the clips of the children being hit by white cream for gross, yet hilarious memes.
