Will any of you be seeing Avatar again this coming weekend?

I find it interesting and extremely evil to relaunch a movieĀ  that came about 7 months ago just because it has 9 minutes of extra footage, that’s something Cameron could have just left in the discs.

Following the record-breaking IMAX(R) 3D release of the highest grossing movie of all-time, IMAX Corporation and Twentieth Century Fox today announced that Avatar: Special Edition will open in 175 IMAX(R) theatres worldwide – 125 domestic and 50 international locations – on August 27, 2010, simultaneously with the motion picture’s re-release in conventional theatres. This enhanced release will feature approximately nine additional minutes of never-before-seen footage and offers fans the opportunity to see it in IMAX theatres for a limited time only. Avatar has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R).

Cameron has been milking Titanic over the last 13 years, but this is just ridiculous. I would understand if it were a diretor’s cut-size event, I don’t know, let’s say an hour of stuff they didn’t show on theaters, and I’m still against that thought.

I would really like to know what this line means, “Avatar has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience“, what do they mean by “re-mastered”? I’m pretty sure IMAX theaters were showing this movie the first time around, it’s only 7 months old!

Anyway, ComingSoon.net posted a list of all the IMAX theaters that will be showing the movie, in case you want to cough up the extra money for the Pocahontas-Giant Smurfs Space Adventure, in 3D.

So, will you go? If you will, why? If you won’t, why?

I will certainly not spend the money I don’t have on a movie that I didn’t even like the first time around, the only way you would make me get off my butt and cough up the obscene ticket price would be a booty, otherwise no thanks, go milk someone else.
