Why do USB cables do this?

All of my USB cables do this to me, ALL OF THEM!

What’s worse, the moment someone sees me struggling with the cable and asks me if there’s something wrong they suddenly connect while I’m in the middle of complaining about it not going in….makes you looks stupid, specially when the person next to you is a hot woman…

This is especially true when dealing with mini  A and micro B, it makes me look like I’m trying to force a cube into a round hole. I also go through this every night when I try to connect my Android smartphone to its charger, I always end up twisting the cable a few times before the first position I try ends up being the correct one…
