RoboCop 2014 Second Trailer (And Poster) – Now it’s getting interesting
The second theatrical trailer for the upcoming remake of RoboCop is out, and it’s starting to look a whole lot better than what the first trailer made me think.
The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.
It’s looking like a mix of RobCop 2 and 3, but the fact that it’s PG-13 still bugs me a bit, in fact I’m pretty sure he’ll end up fighting robots only. Here’s the second poster:
Yay for lens flare! While this trailer certainly gave me a better impression than the first one, I still don’t feel comfortable about his overall looks. This is just my opinion, but I feel he looks way too small for being “part man, part machine.” In RoboCop (1987) the guy was slow and everything, but he was and looked bullet resistant, almost bullet proof. This one, however, looks like Raiden from Metal Gear Solid, or Snake Eyes from G.I.Joe. I don’t know what was the idea behind making him look so slim, he’s not supposed to look like a ninja, or a model.
I hope the story is worth messing up with a movie that should’ve been rated R.
