Sad about Flappy Bird? Don’t be! You can still get it for a few thousands of dollars
Many are still mourning the passing of one of the most addictive smartphone games in the last few months, Flappy Bird. But don’t be sad, you can still get the game, just as long as you have thousands of dollars to spare.
Within hours of creator Dong Nguyen officially pulling the app from Apple’s App Store, Google Play Store, and Windows Store, dozens of smartphone listings with the game installed have showed up on eBay, ranging from a few hundred dollars, to a whooping $134,000 dollars!
This is exactly the same thing that happened when Twinkie-maker “Hostess” announced its plans to close “for good” a couple of years ago. I don’t know about iPhones, but for Android users I’m sure it’s just a matter of looking for the .APK file and installing it, and I’m sure many kept copies of the game files.
The question is now, is anybody willing to buy an extra phone just to play this game? Let me be honest, I had no idea the game even existed until the internet exploded with the news of the developer pulling the game because “he couldn’t take it anymore.”
In any case, I am completely impartial about this development, except for the part about somebody spending their savings on an extra phone for a game that looks like a Super Mario Bros. x Angry Birds rip-off.
