The Samsung Galaxy S5 launches today, ready to get yours?
Samsung’s best smartphone launches globally today , and even though it’s not a tremendous upgrade from the GS4, it’s still one of the most powerful smartphones on the market right now.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is already available in some parts of the world, but we only have to wait a few more hours for it’s official launch in the USA.
It features a 2.5GHz Quad core application processor, 5.1″ FHD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, Android 4.4.2 (Kitkat), 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE ready and WiFi connectivity, microSD slot (up to 128GB), Download Booster (LTE + WiFi simultaneous reception)NFC, Bluetooth, supports a USB 3.0 interface as well as lower versions of USB, dust & water resistant, 16MP rear view camera, 2.0MP front view camera, and finger print sensor among other things.
It also comes in four colors; black, white, blue, and in some markets, gold.
Here’s the hands-on demo by the Samsung staff.
For those who’ve never had a Galaxy this is a really good time to get one, it goes both on-contract for about $200, and off-contract for about $650. You can pre-order (at the time of this post it’s still on pre-order) it from online stores like Best Buy and Amazon.
Also, eBay is running a promotion right now for those who would rather get a factory unlocked model (rooted) and other accessories, like Samsung Gear. The launch of the GS5 also lowers the price of the previous models, like the Galaxy S3 and S4. If you need to upgrade, or just replace your current phone, the GS3 is still a great phone, and of course the GS4 barely came out last year it’s definitely still a very good phone.
One more thing, water resistant means it resists up to certain amount on water without dying, while water proof means you can dip it under water, so it’s always good to remember the difference.
