“Legend – A Dragon Ball Tale” fan film puts “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” to shame

A fan-made short film called “Legend – A Dragon Ball Tale” by Studio Stray Dog premiered a couple of days ago, and the quality of the animation took the internet by storm.

The project is not so much a retelling than a reimagining of the series. The story can’t be placed in the Dragon Ball timeline, but it’s amazing, nonetheless.

It took a team of over 10 talented to create this fan film, which according to its animation director, Naseer Pasha, is a love letter to the worlds created by Akira Toriyama.

Although many websites have compared the animation style to that of Dragon Ball Z, IMO it resembles Dragon Ball Super: Broly. In that sense, it puts the most recent installment of the Dragon Ball Super series to shame; Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, even with a really good CG animation, should’ve been animated traditionally after how amazing DBS Broly was.

According to Pasha, the whole project took four years to complete, which is an amazing feat considering they had no funding for it. The group volunteered their personal time for this project.

I hope I get to see more animated films by this this studio.
