Disregard Synchrony Bank emails about trial deposits for Amazon CreditBuilder

stuff

If you are one of the many confused people who received a few consecutive emails about a trial deposit, and/or one that says “action required about your application,” you might want to read this.

I received three consecutive emails, with the following headlines:

  • Action required on your application
  • 2 with “A Trial Deposit Has Been Successfully Made to Your AMAZON CREDITBUILDER”

I was about to call costumer service, when I found this thread on reddit from someone who also went through the same thing.

Apparently, Synchrony Bank didn’t send them on purpose, and they’re experiencing a glitch in the email system, so that’s why there’s no email bodies, a link, or a call to action (other than their signature/disclaimer).

It looks like it hit mostly people with Amazon credit accounts, but it’s hard to tell at this point. I have a store credit for another store through the same bank, so I don’t know if one of those emails was from that account as well.

At this time all you can to is ignore those messages, especially if you’re accounts are not new, of if you have already finished the screening process.

If it makes you feel better, you may attempt to call them. Also, you might want to change your account’s password, and also make sure the email messages you receive are empty. If they ask you to click on a hyperlink to either verify, or unblock you account, delete them and go to the bank’s website or smartphone app to see if there is really something wrong with it.
