A Catholic guide to Ash Wednesday’s forehead signs

humor stuff

Today’s Ash Wednesday in the Catholic faith, so chances are you saw people out in the street with a cross done with ash on their forehead, and some other weird designs depending on how tired the priest doing the ceremony was.

And no, it has nothing to do with Ash Ketchum from the Pokemon series.

You’ll probably see #2 and #3 the most.

But in all seriousness, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday starts Lent by focusing the Christian’s heart on repentance and prayer, usually through personal and communal confession.

On an related/unrelated note, today we had a death in the family, and on Ash Wednesday of all days, so I just want to take this opportunity to say goodbye to my uncle Carlos.

Tío, donde quiera que esté, que Dios me lo bendiga y descanse en paz.
