A few LEGO announcements (SDCC 2013)

Comic Con

LEGO announced a few things this week that I know fans of the toy brick company will like. Some are announcements, and some are actually being sold at the show.

As I type this, there’s a chance the LEGO exclusives already sold out, but you can always check on eBay to see if somebody is selling them at a reasonable price (which is unlikely).

“Nether” and “Village” Minecraft Sets

The two new sets will be launching on September 1st, and will offer recreations of a Minecraft Village and The Nether. The Village set will include blocks for constructing houses, in addition to Pig, Villager, and Zombie “Micromob” figurines.

The Nether kit features a Netherrack, gravel blocks, and lava blocks as well as two Ghasts and a Zombie Pigman.

You can check a few more pictures on SlashGear. The suggested retail price for each new LEGO Minecraft set is $34.99.

“Back the Future” Set

Created by MDKGraphicsEngine - Licensed to LEGO System A/SLEGO has unveiled a Back to the Future box set. Originally submitted by two fan builders and selected late last year to be the next LEGO CUUSOO release, the set features everything from faithful LEGO Minifigure reproductions of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmet “Doc” Brown to the Flux Capacitor and Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor.

The time machine is a LEGO take on the trilogy’s DeLorean DMC-12 and be customized to reflect the look of the machine in any of the three films. The Back to the Future set will launch August 1 for $34.99, so be sure to check the LEGO Shop.

SDCC 2013 Super Hero Exclusives

legosdcc2013exclusiveminifiguresThe four 2013 SDCC Exclusives LEGO Minifigures are all from the LEGO Superheroes theme, and will include a Green Arrow minifigure, a Black Suit Superman minifigure, an Amazing Spider-Man minifigure and a Spider-Woman minifigure. All will be on hand in limited quantities.

The four new minifigures join 2012′s giveaway figures of Bizarro Superman, Phoenix, black costume Spider-Man and Shazam! (Captain Marvel), none of which have been included in any LEGO set since. Some can still be found available on eBay, but for more than three times their original price.

The Hobbit Micro Scale Bag End

LEGO-SDCC-2013-The-Hobbit-Micro-Scale-Bag-EndThis LEGO Micro Scale Bag End SDCC Exclusive set is limited to just 1000 pieces produced and is selling at the convention at the starting price of $39.99.

From what I read it seems to be a micro build of a preexisting set. Still, I’m sure LEGO collectors would like this in their bucket of parts.

It seems to be the most popular of their sets on location, so chances are it’s already gone, but as I said before, you can always check on eBay to see what’s going on there, and if it’s worth the price.

Star Wars Mini Jek-14 Stealth Starfighter

SDCC-2013-LEGO-Star-Wars-Mini-Jek-14-Stealth-StarfighterAnother San Diego Comic Con 2013 LEGO exclusive set available at the convention as well: the 105 piece LEGO Star Wars Jek-14 Mini Stealth Starfighter set.

While it doesn’t fit into either the original or prequel trilogies, the set includes an exclusive SDCC Clone Trooper minifigure. I’m sure that’s gonna sell hot aftermarket, even if fans don’t like the vehicle it comes with. This set is also limited to 1000 produced and has a $39.99 price-point.

If you missed on any of the exclusives because you couldn’t attend the event, you can always check on eBay and see if the auction prices are within your budget.
